Only Fools and Horses-style Reliant Robin vans to go under the hammer at Surrey auction

The three-wheel vans were made famous by the classic sitcom, Only Fools and Horses and are expected to go for £18k

A collection of Del Boy-style three-wheel vans will go under the hammer at a Surrey auctioneer at the end of September and could land thousands of pounds in their owner’s pockets. Ewbank’s – along the A3 north of Guildford – is set to host the auction where seven Reliant Robins will be sold after being valued at more than £18,000.

Among the vans – made famous by the classic sitcom Only Fools and Horses – is a white 1978 MK1 model with 56,000 on the clock and four owners that could fetch between £4,000 and £6,000. There is also a gold 2001 Reliant Robin SLX Special 65 Edition that was produced for the 65th anniversary of Reliant vehicles.

This has been fitted with red leather seats and alloy wheels and has a little under 79,000 on the clock. The 2001 Reliant is expected to sell for between £2,000 and £3,000. The auction has been set for Friday, September 29.

Seven of the iconic Robin Reliants, made famous when driven by David Jason’s beloved character in Only Fools and Horses, are up for auction next week

Only Fools and Horses shot the Reliant Robin to stardom in the 1980s when David Jason’s character Del was made famous for driving his yellow Reliant Regal van, alongside on-screen brother and wheeler-dealer business partner Rodney, played by Nicholas Lyndhurst. A fleet of six Reliant Regals was used during the 22 years of filming and could regularly be seen crammed full of money-making ventures.

Ewbank’s describes itself as a “premier” destination for antiques, fine art, memorabilia, and collectables. Entertainment and memorabilia is among the auctioneer’s largest departments. Ewbank’s can be found at Burntcommon 10 minutes north of Guildford’s town centre. Auction details can be found online here.
