Close

Danny Masterson and Ashton Kutcher have been friends since they starred on That ’70s Show together. They were so close, in fact, that after the show ended, the duo tried for a decade to find a vehicle they could star in together. It was not until they created The Ranch for Netflix that Kutcher and Masterson brought a hit comedy back to the small screen.

Before returning to the small screen together, however, Kutcher and Masterson were known in their younger days as quite the party animals. Being barely old enough to legally drink, the friends would go out to clubs, staying out to all hours of the night enjoying themselves.

The recollection of the events that unfolded during those nights of craziness and insanity started off innocently on a late-night talk show. However, the deeper Masterson and Kutcher delved into their younger days, Masterson came off as slightly sinister in the interview. As such, critics who watch the interview years after it took place and know the details of Masterson’s assault cases, see the Kutcher interview did not paint Masterson in a positive light.

Masterson and Kutcher were enjoying The Ranch’s success in 2017 when a bombshell dropped. That bombshell was that Masterson was being accused of having assaulted four women and that he would face trial for the accusations.

Masterson was removed from The Ranch after Netflix received pressure from its subscribers. Yet, in the midst of all of this, Kutcher still supported Masterson, apparently believing that his long-time friend was falsely accused.

After Masterson was formally charged for the at the time alleged crimes that took place from 2001 to 2003, he was still Kutcher’s “mentor.” The two talked often and Kutcher kept in touch with Masterson’s brother, Chris Masterson, and was worried about the fact that Masterson’s child would read the details of what he was charged with in the future.

“Someday, his kid is going to read about this,” Kutcher explained.

Kutcher desperately wanted Masterson “to be found innocent of the charges brought against him.” But that meant he wanted Masterson to actually be innocent versus being found not guilty by a jury.

This support from Kutcher for Masterson came by not only believing in Masterson but also by writing a character letter on Masterson’s behalf for the judge to read in September 2023 before Masterson was sentenced after being found guilty of the crimes he was accused of.

“A couple months ago, Danny’s family reached out to us and they asked us to write character letters to represent the person that we knew for 25 years so that the judge could take that into full consideration relative to the sentencing,” Kutcher explained after he received major backlash for supporting Masterson throughout out his years’ long legal battle.

Kutcher went on to say that a letter was “not written to question the legitimacy of the judicial system or the validity of the jury’s ruling.” Instead, “they were intended for the judge to read and not to undermine the testimony of the victims or re-traumatize them in any way.”

Kutcher apologized for offending people with his actions with his letter begging the Court to be lenient, saying that he just wanted to support the friend he had known for decades that dated back to their early twenties when they would go out and party all night long.

An Old Interview Painted Danny Masterson As A ‘Party Animal’

Before Masterson was accused of assault, he was a regular in the Los Angeles party scene. As such, he had all the “hookups” necessary to get in just about anywhere in town. But once he met and became friends with Kutcher, things were taken to the next level and the two rarely took a night off from the club scene.

“You were big on the party scene,” James Corden stated.

“A little bit,” Masterson replied. “Yeah.”

Kutcher interjected, “He had all the hookups.”

“We took a night off a week,” Masterson explained. “We took a night off. We had to shoot our show.”

“One night off a week?” Corden asked.

Masterson replied, “Yeah. We got to get some sleep.”

“He’d been here. Grew up in the whole thing,” Kutcher explained. “This pre-TMZ, pre-cell phone camera, so you could go out.”

“We had Motorola two-way pagers back in the day,” Masterson stated. “If you wanted to look real cool if you didn’t know anybody you’d just page,” Kutcher joked. Masterson added, “And then we could be like, ‘Yo, give me your number.'”

“And you beep it and that was gangsta,” Kutcher said.

“It was like War Games,” Masterson stated.

Kutcher went on to say, “Nobody was going to take your picture so you could really wil’ out and nobody would know what you did last night.”

It was because of this that Kutcher and Masterson got away with far more than young celebrities would today. But that does not mean there were no ways of still getting dirt on someone and based on his answers during the interview on Late Late Night With Show Corden, it appears that Masterson may have had some compromising photos of Kutcher.

Does Danny Masterson ‘Have Dirt’ On Ashton Kutcher?

During their interview with Corden, Masterson made an off the cuff comment about how he was able to snap some photos of Kutcher in the buff when he was not in his right mind. A fact that Kutcher denied and looked a bit unhappy about when Masterson refused to back down that he potentially had blackmail photos of Kutcher.

“I have more photos of Commando Kutcher here naked in a club than probably anybody,” Masterson stated.

“No way,” Cordon said. “Are you serious?”

“Took it with my Polaroid,” Masterson admitted.

Kutcher replied, “It only happened after it closed.”

“Well, you know…” Masterson said.

“The full Kutcher?” Corden asked.

“You have zero pictures of the full Kutcher,” Kutcher exclaimed.

“Mmm, okay,” Masterson smugly replied.

While Masterson could have been lying about having the pictures, it appeared that he was being pretty honest with what he did years ago. If this was indeed the case, what he planned on doing with the pictures at some point in the future is unknown.

Perhaps it would have been nothing, perhaps not. Hopefully, that is something that Kutcher will never have to worry about coming to light now, given that Masterson has been sentenced to 30 years to life in prison, essentially putting him behind bars for what looks to be the remainder of his life.
