Only Fools and Horses star’s son Archie Lyndhurst died of brain haemorrhage

Nicholas Lyndhurst's son was found dead at his home in September aged 19

Archie Lyndhurst’s death in September was caused by a brain haemorrhage in his sleep, his mum Lucy says after a second post-mortem exam.

Archie, who starred in CBBC show So Awkward, was found dead at the family home in Fulham, West London at the age of 19.

The inquest into his death was reported to have been dropped this week, and his mum Lucy Lyndhurst has shared that her son died in his sleep after suffering an intracerebral haemorrhage caused by a condition called Acute Lymphoblastic Lymphoma/Leukaemia.

Lucy said that she and Archie’s dad, Only Fools and Horses actor husband Nicolas Lyndhurst, discovered the “harrowing” details days before Christmas following a second post-mortem, the Mirror reports.

“This is not Leukaemia as we know it, the word Acute in medical terms means rapid,” Lucy explained in an Instagram post.

She said doctors had “assured us that there wasn’t anything anyone could have done as Archie showed no signs of illness.”

She continued: “Archie had numerous bleeds on the brain and the Dr went to great lengths to reassure us that he wouldn’t have been in any pain as it happened in his sleep.

“The world is a very different place without him.

“One of my last conversations with him was about all that was going on in the world, the chaos, anger about all different subjects.

“He looked at me with his huge blue soulful eyes, shook his head and said ‘All the world needs is love Mama, it’s so easy to love’.

“He loved life, he valued everyone in it and every moment he was given. He was always singing, and had such energy and passion in everything he did.

“To be part of his life has been the biggest joy mad honour. We miss him everyday and always will.”

Lucy’s post comes after news that an inquest into Archie’s death on September 22 was abandoned.

West London’s Coroners told the Mirror : “The Coroner’s investigation into Archie’s death has been discontinued and no inquest will be required.'”

Parents Lucy and Nicholas laid their son to rest at a ‘tiny chapel’ in November.

At the time, Lucy asked fans to light a candle or take a minute to remember Archie, who she described as “unlike anyone she’d ever known.”

“He cherished and absorbed every moment he had,” she said.
