Pierce Brosnan’s Children Mean Everything to Him! Meet the Actor’s Blended Family With Wife Keely
The name’s Bond, James Bond — well, at least on TV. But when Pierce Brosnan is around his family, he’s known as “Dad.” The Irish-American actor is famous for his memorable films and charming persona, but he’s even more dedicated to being the father of his five children: Sean Brosnan, Chris Brosnan, Dylan Brosnan, Paris Brosnan and late daughter Charlotte Brosnan.
The Die Another Day star has been married twice in his life. His first marriage was with actress Cassandra Harris, whom he wed in 1980. The pair had one child, Sean, in 1983, and the Mrs. Doubtfire star became the dad of Cassandra’s older kids, Charlotte and Chris, having adopted them following their nuptials.
Sadly, Pierce became a single father when Cassandra died in 1991 following a battle with ovarian cancer. Despite being heartbroken over Cassandra’s death, he stayed strong for their family and eventually, Pierce fell in love with his second spouse, Keely Shaye Smith.
The Golden Globe nominee and Keely tied the knot in 2001 and expanded his brood when they welcomed their sons, Dylan and Paris. Though there isn’t a day that goes by that Pierce doesn’t think of Cassandra, he’s thankful to have created such a beautiful life with the Poisoning Paradise actress.
“You have to trust and follow your heart, and try to meet the best people in life,” Pierce once exclusively told Closer about finding love again. “When Keely looks at me, I go weak. I love her vitality, her passion. She has this strength that I wouldn’t be able to live without.”
If it weren’t for Keely, Pierce wouldn’t be the father of his younger boys. Because the brunette beauty is such a good role model, he’s grateful to have Keely as the mother of his children. “I’m one of those guys who believes you need a strong woman in your life,” he gushed. “I found a great woman in Keely … Not if I searched a million times over would I find one as good.”
While most of their days are filled with happy times, Pierce is reminded of his darker days every now and then. “I don’t look at the cup as half-full, believe me,” he said, referring to the losses in his life. “The dark, melancholy Irish black dog sits beside me from time to time.”
But when it comes down to it, Pierce is, of course, all about his family — especially his kids. “Being a father is a huge responsibility, but it’s a satisfying one,” he marveled to Closer.

Sean Brosnan
Pierce’s first child arrived on September 13, 1983. Sean has taken the Hollywood route like his dad, starring in films and shows like Acts of Violence, Don Peyote, My Fare Lady and No Easy Days. He’s also found himself behind the camera, directing movies, including My Father Die, Face of C and The Kid.
In terms of his personal life, Sean tied the knot with fellow actress Sanja Banic in 2014. The couple shares one child, Marley May Cassandra, whom they welcomed in 2015.
Looking back on how successful Sean has become, Pierce proved how much pride he has when he shared a touching tribute for his kid’s birthday in September 2021. Uploading a few throwback photos on Instagram, the Misfits alum penned, “Happy birthday, Sean. We have traveled far together, my dear son. I am so proud of the man and father you have become and the son that I hold in my heart always. Love, Dad.”
Charlotte Brosnan
Charlotte — who was born on November 27, 1971 — appeared in a few movies in the mid-’90s before putting her acting career in the backseat. She married Alex Smith in 2007, and they had two kids, Isabella and Lucas.
Sadly, Charlotte died in 2013 following a battle with ovarian cancer like her mother. “My darling daughter Charlotte Emily passed on to eternal life, having succumbed to ovarian cancer,” Pierce said in a statement at the time. “Charlotte fought her cancer with grace and humility, courage and dignity. Our hearts are heavy with the loss of our beautiful dear girl.”
Christopher Brosnan
Pierce’s adopted son Christopher, who arrived on November 11, 1972, has worked as an assistant director on many film sets, including some of his dad’s movies like GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies and The World Is Not Enough. For the most part otherwise, Christopher has stayed out of the spotlight.
Dylan Brosnan
Pierce welcomed his son Dylan with Keely on January 13, 1997. Dylan is quite busy these days, as he is a model and has worked with Burberry, Saint Laurent and more top fashion brands.
The young man, who also happens to be a cinematographer, studied at the USC School of Cinematic Arts. Dylan has even interned for Senator Ed Markey. It’s quite clear that he has a very bright future ahead of him.
Paris Brosnan
Just like his big brother Dylan, Paris — who arrived on February 27, 2001 — is paving a career as a model, but he also finds time to focus on being a philanthropist and filmmaker. In May 2019, he documented his trip to Sri Lanka and highlighted the work being done there by the UN World Food Programme to help raise awareness about childhood hunger.
Paris, along with his big brother Dylan, were also ambassadors at the 2020 Golden Globes. The Brosnans are one talented crew!
