‘While we can’t compete with the original show, you do get the whole story of Only Fools And Horses. It would be lovely to see our version adapted for television.’

Earlier this year it was revealed Only Fools and Horses The Musical is to close after four years, after becoming the London Haymarket Theatre’s longest-serving show in its 200-year history.

The musical opened in February 2019 and recently celebrated its 1,000th performance.

The show was a hit with fans and critics alike, as well as the sitcom’s former stars who attended its premiere and celebratory performances.

Paul co-wrote the show with Jim Sullivan, the son of the legendary Only Fools and Horses creator John Sullivan, who passed away in 2011, who always dreamed of taking the show to the West End.

After Life and PhoneShop star Tom Bennett plays the iconic Del Boy, actor Ryan Hutton stars as brother Rodney, while comedy legend Paul takes on the role of Grandad.

Last year, Sir David, 83, said he ‘would love’ to reprise his role as Del Boy.

Before that, he starred in a 2014 Sports Relief sketch called Beckham in Peckham, which saw Del try and sell underpants called Golden Balls which were endorsed by David Beckham – with the footballer starring as himself.

He said: ‘I’ve always loved Del Boy, who is such a wonderful loser. I would love to revisit him, I need someone to write me a script.’
