Clint Eastwood and Steve McQueen were both in the film “Human Interest Story” in 1959. McQueen is known as an infamous antihero in films from the 1960s and 1970s. He had roles in films like “The Sand Pebbles,” “The Cincinnati Kid,” “Love With the Proper Stranger,” “The Thomas Crown Affair,” “The Great Escape,” and “The Magnificent Seven.”
Steve McQueen would quickly become one of the most influential actors of the century. In fact, by 1974, he was the highest-paid movie star in the world, but he didn’t act again for another four years.
McQueen And Eastwood Together
“Human Interest Story” was directed by one of the most influential directors of the century, Alfred Hitchcock. It was a part of his “Alfred Hitchcock Presents” series. The movie follows Bill Everett (Steve McQueen) who interviews a man named Howard Wilcox (Arthur Hill) because he claims to be a Martian. He was sent by his editor to complete the interview.
Everett listens to Wilcox as he explains how he one day woke up on Mars to find that everyone had disappeared. He then made a trip to Earth and found himself in the human body he was currently in. Everett tries to get Wilcox to go back home to his family and keep the story to himself, but it doesn’t quite work out.
Everett later gives a report to his editor about the drastic action he was forced to take. He got his hands far dirtier than a journalist should.
In the film, Clint Eastwood plays an uncredited newsman. He is just a brief character in a background shot. At the time, Eastwood was just getting started and the leadership behind the film had no idea the kind of star he’d become. He became well-known after his time on the TV series “Rawhide.” However, he would soon land roles in films like “Man with No Name,” “Dirty Harry,” and “Dollars Trilogy.”
Eastwood also has found even more success as a director. His movies “Unforgiven” and “Million Dollar Baby” are Academy Award-nominated films.
Clint Eastwood ‘Cry Macho’ Movie
Clint Eastwood has gone from being a background character to owning his own production company, Malpaso Productions, and being a highly influential director.
His next film is “Cry Macho,” a neo-Western drama film that he is both directing and producing. The movie is based on the 1975 book by N. Richard Nash. He wrote the screenplay shortly before he passed away in 2000.
Eastwood is also starring in the movie as a retired rodeo star that is hired to return a man located in Mexico back to his father in the U.S. The two deal with an all-around challenging journey as Eastwood’s character teaches the young man life lessons along the way.
Dwight Yoakam, Natalia Traven, Horacio Garcia Rojas, and Fernanda Urrejola also appear in the movie. Eastwood is currently 90, but he has yet to slow down in making films he’s passionate about. Most directors tend to slow down years earlier than the age Eastwood is at.
According to Variety, Eastwood’s last film as a director was “Richard Jewell.” The film grossed $44 million and Kathy Bates received a supporting actress nomination for her role.
The film is set to come out in October 2021.
