Only Fools and Horses

Only Fools and Horses has been named the best BBC programme of all time

Thanks to the BBC, tele addicts have been blessed with some pretty phenomenal programmes over the years.

Comedy fans have been treated to the likes of The Office, Fawlty Towers, Red Dwarf, Men Behaving Badly, Harry Enfield and Friends and so many more.

Meanwhile, soap fans have been swooning over EastEnders since the show launched back in 1985.

But there have been so many other brilliant programmes made in the name of entertainment including Top of The Pops, Blue Planet and countless dramas, it’s impossible to name them all.

Considering the BBC first started broadcasting on TV during the 1930s, it’s hard to imagine exactly what the best programme on the channel is.

Luckily, a YouGov poll has pinned down the most popular BBC show of all time and the top 10 consists of a range of shows including documentaries, sitcoms and News at 10.

And rated number one is Only Fools and Horses.

The sitcom launched in 1981 and follows the trial and tribulations of the Trotter family who are on a constant quest to make their fortune, a goal they of course finally achieve.

The last official episode aired in 2003 but avid fans still watch Del Boy, Rodney, Uncle Albert, Grandad, Trigger, Boycie and the rest of the clan in old episodes over and over again.

You just can’t imagine a world where the sitcom doesn’t exist!

So, here’s the full list of the best BBC shows according to the YouGov poll:
