9 times Grandad made us laugh out loud in Only Fools and Horses with hilarious one-liners

"Del's had more fights than John Wayne"

Grandad wasn’t exactly the smartest card in the deck but he was very crafty and quite the comedian in Only Fools and Horses .

He always minded the Trotters’ flat in Nelson Mandela House, Peckham , from his armchair as he rarely left the family living room where he famously watched multiple televisions sets at once.

Grandad’s full name was Edward Kitchener ‘Ted’ Trotter and he had an easy life as Del Boy and Rodney earned the household’s living selling knock-off goods around South London .

Played by Lennard Pearce, Grandad was full of sarcasm and quick wit, so here are nine times he made viewers laugh out loud with cheeky one-liners.

  1. “I don’t know why they want these drug-addiction centres. I mean ain’t we got enough drug-addicts without them recruiting more!”
  2. Rodney: “You mean you were gun-running in the middle of a civil war?”

Grandad: “Well that’s the best time to do it Rodney, supply and demand!”

  1. “It’s a good thing your mum died when she did ‘cos that would’ve killed her!”

4. “I’ve always wanted to go to Benidorm. Where is it?”

5. “Your dad always said that one day Del Boy would reach the top. There again, he always used to say that one day Millwall would win the cup!”

6. “I’m going back to the hotel to have a fiesta.”

7. “You’re like me Rodney, I never ever found it easy to get girlfriends.”

8. “If they’d never seen an elephant before how did they know it was an elephant?”

9. “Little cow was out sky-larking around with other fellas, Del’s had more fights than John Wayne.”
