Robin Williams Remembered by Fans on What Would’ve Been His 71st Birthday

Late comedy legend Robin Williams is trending on Twitter as fans across the world are paying tribute on the day he would have turned 71.

It has been nearly eight years since Robin Williams passed away, but for many of his fans, the pain of the loss still stings. “Missing the comedic genius and pure magic of Robin Williams on what would have been his 71st Birthday today,” famed movie poster artist Drew Struzan tweeted along with a photo of some of his artwork designs for the official Hook poster.

“Happy Birthday to Mr. Robin Williams,” one fan says on Twitter. “A legend gone too soon. We still miss you.”

“I would like to imagine that today we are celebrating Robin Williams 71st Birthday and he’s with us to enjoy the occasion,” another fan writes, including some artwork of the beloved actor.

Another tweet reads, “Born this day in 1951, today would have been Robin Williams’ 71st birthday. Happy Heavenly Birthday to one of the best comedians ever!! He was so good at making us smile & laugh but forgot himself in the process!”

For his many film and TV appearances, Robin Williams had long been one of Hollywood’s most popular entertainers. While he excelled in his dramatic roles, he was especially celebrated for his comedy work, both in film and on the stage. Leading up to the end of his life, Williams had been struggling with Lewy body disease, and his death came as a huge shock at the time as no one could have imagined the funnyman could have ever passed away in such horrific fashion.

“I experienced my brilliant husband being lucid with clear reasoning 1 minute and then, 5 minutes later blank, lost in confusion,” Williams’ widow, Susan Schneider, later said about what she had seen from the Mrs. Doubtfire star in his final years, per Neurology. “Robin had a chance to ask some burning questions. He asked, ‘Do I have Alzheimer’s? Dementia? Am I schizophrenic?’ The answers were the best we could have gotten: No, no, no. There were no indications of these other diseases. It is apparent to me now that he was most likely keeping the depth of his symptoms to himself.”
