Only Fools and Horses

The Only Fools and Horses star you’ve forgotten also appeared in Coronation Street, Doctor Who and Benidorm

He also had a Number 1 hit in the 80s

The stars of Only Fools and Horses can count themselves among the most recognisable faces in British acting and many of them have appeared in other iconic British shows such as Coronation Street and Doctor Who.

We’ve spoken before about David Thewlis, who appeared in the sitcom years before he was in Harry Potter, and Nabil Elouhabi, who has shown up in OFAH as well as EastEnders.

But neither of them have had quite as varied a career as Michael Fenton Stevens who you may recognise from his appearance in the OFAH episode ‘The Unlucky Winner is…’ in which he played a character called Alan Perkins.

Michael Fenton Stevens was a central character in Spitting Image, a satirical programme that ran from 1988 to 1991.

But did you know Michael also had a Number 1 hit in 1986?

Indeed, as part of Spitting Image, Michael Fenton Stevens released “The Chicken song” – an admittedly terrible parody record that the Great British Public spent real money on.

Beyond novelty records, Michael has quite the CV, and has appeared in a whole host of British TV shows.

In Benidorm he plays the recurring character Sir Henry and has shown up in eight episodes of the show between 2011 and 2018.

He also made a one episode appearances in The Crown, Outnumbered, Casualty, Holby City, Mr Bean, and The Bill.

Michael’s most iconic gig was in KYTV, in which he played various characters across his 19 appearances.

However, the most niche bit of information you’ll find about him, with which you will no doubt one day ace a very specific pub quiz question, concerns Doctor Who.

Though he may not have appeared in the series proper he has voiced several characters in the Doctor Who audio stories, including William Shakespeare in The Rainmaker.
