Christopher Mitchell appeared in the May the Force Be With You episode of the hit show

The Only Fools and Horses episode ‘May the Force be with you’ sees Roy Slater, a duplicitous, mean-spirited police officer and hated ex-schoolmate of Del Boy, return to Peckham, where he has been tasked with tracking down a stolen microwave.

Slater interrogates Del, Rodney and Grandad alongside his partner PC Terry Hoskins.

Eagle-eyed Only Fools and Horses fans may know that PC Terry Hoskins was played by Christopher Mitchell Driver, a British actor who died tragically young.

Driver carved out a successful career, other TV credits included: Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush (1967), This, That and the Other (1969), The Sex Thief (1973) and What’s Up Superdoc! (1978).

He appeared in two episodes of Only Fools and Horses; ‘May the Force Be With You’ in 1983 and “To Hull and Back”, in 1985, playing policeman Terry Hoskins in both.

‘To Hull and Back’ was the fourth Christmas special episode.

It was also the first feature-length edition of the show.

In the episode, the Trotters agree to smuggle diamonds from Amsterdam for Boycie, but they run into the policeman, played by Christopher Mitchell Driver.

In addition Driver had parts in many other comedies such as: Keeping Up Appearances (where he played the porter) Never the Twain and That’s My Boy.

Driver very sadly died from cancer at the age of 52 in 2001 a month before his father, actor Norman Mitchell.
