Blue Bloods’ Donnie Wahlberg shares heartfelt tribute to mark Tom Selleck’s huge milestone

BLUE BLOODS star Donnie Wahlberg took to social media to share a heartfelt tribute and express his love for his beloved co-star.

CBS’ hit drama Blue Bloods followed the Reagans, an Irish Catholic family who all work in law enforcement. Actor Donnie Wahlberg, who played Danny Reagan, used Instagram to share good wishes to his on-screen father Tom Selleck

Wahlberg posted two photos of himself alongside Selleck and wrote a moving tribute to the legendary actor in the caption.

It read: “Happy Birthday to my TV dad, and real-life friend & father figure, Tom Selleck!

“Thankful to have you in my life ‘dad’, and blessed to have a small supporting role in the amazing legacy that is your life! Love you, Dad! Always, Son!”

He added: “(ps, I know you won’t see this because you probably have no idea what @instagram is, but it’s ok because I don’t mind sharing with the world that you mean a lot to me).”

The two have shared a screen since Blue Bloods first landed on screens in 2010 and with 12 seasons in, neither of the actors have shown signs of slowing down.

Despite initial rumours speculating Selleck’s potential exit, the 77-year-old put hearsay to rest and seemingly told People.com he’d play Frank Reagan until the end of the show.

He stated: “I don’t think there is an endpoint, I think there is a lot of life in the show, as long as you let your characters grow and get older.”

This is great news for fans of the beloved police commissioner, despite the fact, his character was offered a new role away from the NYPD.

However, before Frank could consider stepping down, the most recent episode titled ‘Cold Comfort’ saw him confront the fact he had dirty cops in his own rank.

During the episode, Danny and Maria Beaz (Marisa Ramirez) found their informer Bugs (Derek Gaines), who wanted to avoid arrest for possession.

In order to get away with the drugs, he told the officers, their colleague Peter O’Neill (Lee Aaron Rosen) was involved with a gang called the Dead Twins.

After an investigation, the allegation proved to be true after Frank discovered a majority of O’Neill’s arrests were rivals of the Dead Twins.
