Only Fools and Horses reboot would be ruined by ‘ridiculous woke’ rules says Mickey star

ONLY FOOLS AND HORSES actor Patrick Murray has admitted he is concerned a reboot of the well-loved BBC sitcom would easily offend viewers.

Patrick Murray, who portrayed Mickey Pearce in Only Fools and Horses, says he would love to film a revival of the BBC show, but fears it would be “constrained” by “woke” culture. The 65-year-old actor has followed David Jason’s lead in admitting he would consider starring in a reboot of the sitcom. However, the star has confessed he’s worried viewers would now find the word “plonker” offensive.

However, Patrick believes the characters wouldn’t be able to poke fun at each other in fear of upsetting modern-day viewers.

He also admitted he would be worried the BBC could “ruin” the programme by being too cautious.

“It would be lovely to do another one but I do worry we would be constrained because we can’t take the mickey out of each other,” the actor told The Sun.

“Rodney was a plonker, but nowadays people would find calling each other ‘plonkers’ offensive.”

Patrick added: “The woke thing has got a bit ridiculous.

“People with nothing better to do will write in saying they’ve been insulted.”

He added: “But I would definitely be up for it if everyone else was on board and we are allowed to be funny.”

Patrick played Mickey on Only Fools And Horses from 1983 to 2003.

His comments came after Del Boy actor David said he too would be willing to appear in “one last” episode of the legendary show.

The beloved actor, 81, last playedDel Boy 19 years ago, but he admitted he still feels he has “unfinished business” with the iconic cockney character.
