Henry Cavill is known for his role as Superman in Man of Steel and his lead acting in The Witcher. But many fans are also curious about the star’s love life. So, who is Henry Cavill’s wife? Fellow actor Ellen Whitaker nearly became Henry Cavill’s wife — but the two broke off their relationship. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cavill dated fellow British woman and equestrian, Whitaker, after first meeting in 2009 at the Olympia International Horse Show. Cavill proposed in 2011 — and Whitaker said she was elated to marry Cavill.

“I couldn’t believe it when he asked me to marry him,” she exclaimed to the Belfast Telegraph. “I thought we were there to celebrate his birthday. It was such a surprise and I am so happy.” 

It looks like the lovebirds were headed in different directions, though. Daily Mail reported Cavill was spending more time working on his career, which could’ve led to a rift. Whitaker was also concentrating on her passion for horses. As one source close to the exes said, “They just weren’t getting on.”

As for Cavill, he remained tight-lipped about the end of his engagement, “I’ll talk about that another time,” he said. “This summer I am taking time off and relaxing.”

What happened to Henry Cavill and Lucy Cork?

Henry Cavill’s girlfriend back in 2017, Lucy Cork, looked destined to be his future wife. Prior to Cork, Cavill dated The Big Bang Theory actor Kaley Cuoco in 2013, Mandalorian star Gina Carano in 2013, Marisa Gonzalo in 2014, and the much-younger Tara King after, Distractify reports.

Cork and Cavill seemed to be going strong in 2017, though. On Aug. 23 of that year, Cavill posted a video of the stuntwoman to his Instagram, too.

“We’ve all been hurt, we’ve all got it wrong, trusted the wrong person, made the wrong bet, turned the wrong way, made THAT mistake,” he wrote. “What we’ve experienced is important, it defines us. But what is more important, and often forgotten, is that we decide how it defines us.”

In the lengthy caption, Cavill ends it with sweet words for his girlfriend. “This is my Lucy,” he added. “She is one of the best stunt women in the world. She has defined herself. She continues to define herself. She grows, everyday. She is Lucy Cork because she says so.”

So, what happened to Henry Cavill’s girlfriend, Lucy Cork? Some outlets report the two are still together, but it looks like they broke up back in 2018. And judging from social media, Cork has moved on with a new man. Back in September 2020, she posted a photo staring lovingly at a new guy, and fans noticed.

“Well that’s not Henry Cavill,” one fan commented.

“There is love in your eyes,” another added.

So far, it doesn’t look like Cork’s made any definitive posts about her new man, either. We imagine she’s focusing on her career as well, especially in the public eye.

As for Superman, it doesn’t look like he’s publicly seen anyone since 2018. Henry Cavill’s wife is likely still out there — and for now, we imagine he’ll be focusing on his movie and TV roles.
